Going with the flow

so with the new project well on the way i decided on the chosen words "fluid frameworks", they stood out instantly for me so was obvious to go with then, these are a couple of my research pages i have done so far, looking into framework in things around me such as buildings, statues and general features:

Pierre Dal Corso for Fiasco Magazine

While researching for my new project i came across this editorial, I'm just inspired by the structure of the garment in the first picture and the style of the shoes. I like the way while appearing very streamline and elegant it has a very edge'y feel to it.

Pierre Dal Corso shoots Gabriella Toth for the Satisfaction editorial in latest issue of Fiasco Magazine. Styled by Delphine Dubreuil and Sarah Cohen.

Illustration Time

so now the workshops are fully on there way we are now starting to experiment with illustrations, so using the techniques we have been trying and also the styles we have tried i have incorporated there into some of my illustrations, so far i find that being loser with my work helps and not trying for that "perfect" look is more my style, exaggerating particular parts of my illustrations such as the neck and leg i believe tends to work pretty well, here is some examples of my work so far:

And a new project begins:

so now we are moving on to a new project, this is a big one so it is split into parts, and first off we have started with workshops to explore and experiment with our drawing techniques, i choose to play with the ideas of inks, fine line pens, graphite, paints and many other medias. during the workshops we were told given different instructions randomly throughout the day, such as a continuous line drawing, mixing to medias together, swapping with the person next to us and much more, and this is a collection of what i have done so far:

Massive Update

So i haven't been able to update my blog in a long time due to braking my computer and loosing everything, but now all is sorted, thank god...

My first project is over and done with and i was very happy with the outcome, i finally choose Gareth Pugh as my inspiration for my final piece, focusing on identity, personally to me his collections speak louder than just being pieces of clothing, they have a message, and the clothing it self has its own identity and takes over the identity of the person wearing it. so my final piece consists of a 3D canvas representing identity, using a variety of medias:

Make do and mend!

During the past couple of days we have had many lectures where we have covered a 100 years of fashion, in this time we have done mini projects, one being "make do and mend" , during the 1940's most women only had enough money for one outfit a year so the make do and mend phase came into fashion, re working old outfits, materials from around the house, anything they could find to reform and make something new.

So in the sprit of this we were asked to being in a vintage item, like a belt, scarf, dress, many things as long as we didnt mind cutting it up. We were then placed into groups where we had to bring our items together, along with other garments and fabrics that were placed in the class and reinvent an outfit.

To start out we focused our attention onto a 60's style blue dress, with the intention of turning it into a cape with hood and a micro skirt. However this did not go to plan, in haste we jumped into cutting away and not trying out things before hand, resulting in an item that looked poorly finished and when we asked our peers if they would wear the item, we had negative feedback.

So we decided to completely scrap the idea and start over, going in a new direction and focusing on a tie and some blue material, this worked out much better, with a clearer goal in mind and much more to work with, we decided to use the blue material as a bottom piece for a dress which we draped on the stand and tacked the fabric, then using a tartan material we went with a one shoulder style top with gathered sleeve and gold button detailing, this was then brought together using the tie on the waist, completing the outfit.

A visit of culture!

Recently we went on a cultural outing to the city of Nottingham, where there was many things that caught my eye, such as architecture, street style and the art.

Even something as simple as the light on this building caught my eye, with a gothic and classic feel it inspires ideas of darkness, structured shapes and mystery.

The glass roof of this ceiling was a very dramatic statement in the middle of the building, having a very modern yet classic feel at the same time.

This was just some art outside of a cafe, i liked the idea of of it being on display for the public to see, it made me think of the streets in paris, art on display, people sipping on there coffie discussing life, art and fashion.

This was a girl i spotted walking around Nottingham, i loved the oversized chunky knit with geometric print, she had a retro on trend look.
